Who should this digital teaching resource be used with? (ie year/grade)

This resource can be used with Year 2 students with teacher assistance, on IPads or computers.

How should it be used? (e.g. individual, whole class)

The teacher may first show the presentation to students to learn about the seasonal change and months of the year. Student can then explore in groups of up to ten in class to encourage group brainstorming and interaction. They can also continue to work on their task at home independently, subject to internet and IPad/computer availability in the classroom and at home. When all groups have completed building their presentation, the whole class can view it on one shared virtual whiteboard.

Which subject or learning area would it be most appropriate to use in?

It would be most appropriate to be used in Mathematics/ Measurement and Geometry/ Using Units of Measurements. Particularly for the content description referring to naming and ordering the months and seasons of the year. The resource names the months and seasons in order as well as displaying the names as text through speaking, writing and creating.

Identify the strengths of this teaching resource:

Prezi is a great tool for interactive classroom sessions or group work. It can be kept in the public domain allowing students to have access on the Internet and promotes visual learning and works like a graphic organiser or a mind map. The teacher can monitor and see who is working on the project.  It can have up to ten students working on it at the same time, with a maximum of thirty students in total, allowing groups to work together in real time, in the classroom or at home. This allows students to brainstorm and build a presentation on one shared presentation.

Identify the weaknesses of this teaching resource:

Each student must have an email in order to be added to the resource. It can also be overwhelming for young children especially if they do not have basic computer skills, access to technology or internet. Also, as it can only have up to ten students working together in real time. Therefore, the teacher will have to either limit the groups to a maximum of ten at a time or create three separate presentations with up to ten participants.

Explain any ideas you may have for further use of this teaching resource:

As it is a great to be used as a mind map, student can record on Prezi what they have learnt that day or week, promoting revision and motivation to learn something new or to be creative in order to present it in class.
